On Friday afternoon, our school went into the hall to watch El Grego, the magician, do magic. He also told us about anti-bullying.
My favourite was the magic wand.
First, El Grego picked someone from the audience. He picked Hunter Rose. Hunter Rose walked up the wooden stairs and over to where El Grego was standing.
El Grego said to her, “Do you want to meet a rare grey bird?”
“Yes please,” answered Hunter Rose.
El Grego asked his assistant Sue, “Can you go get a wand for this lovely lady please?” so Sue went behind the pitch black curtain and came back with a black and white wand. She gave the wand to Hunter Rose. El Grego had an empty wooden bucket on a wooden table. He told Hunter Rose to wave the black and white wand above the bucket and say “It better work,” so Hunter Rose waved the wand above the bucket and said, “It better work.”
El Grego picked up the bucket and showed it to the crowd. Everyone started to giggle and point because there was nothing in the bucket.
El Grego asked Sue to bring out a bigger wand. Sue went back behind the pitch black curtain and came back with a bigger black and white wand.
El Grego said to Hunter Rose, “Wave this wand above the bucket and say, “It better work,” so Hunter Rose did that over and over again, until El Grego’s assistant, Sue, came back with a gigantic wand almost the size of the stage, and Hunter Rose waved the wand above the bucket and said, “It better work.”
El Grego put his hand into the bucket and pulled a small grey bird out of the bucket. The crowd cheered and clapped. El Grego told us that the little grey bird was called Ruby. El Grego said to Ruby,
“Speak,” but Ruby said nothing. El Grego told us that she had already learnt how to say 40 words. He also said that kind of bird can learn up to 400 words.
The crowd said, “Wow.”
I thought that the magic show was very interesting and mind tricking, I also really liked the little bird Ruby.
